The M-1 Student Visa is for those attending a non-academic institution (such as a vocational school), and the M-3 Student Visa is for academic commuter students who are citizens of Mexico or Canada. International students must first receive a Letter of Acceptance to enroll full-time at the educational institution of their choice that has been approved by SEVIS. They will then apply for the student visa that meets their needs. A spouse and/or unmarried children who will be living with the student must be granted an F-2 visa or M-2 visa for family members.
