The Trump administration had made receiving an American education difficult to receive. As the U.S. closed its borders to foreigners and visa restrictions tightened, the number of international students applying for enrollment in the United States began to decline. As the decline was happening, the global pandemic struck. The travel restrictions caused an even further reduction in numbers.
A recent report said the number of international students studying in America declined by 18 percent in the past year. According to student visa records, with U.S. consulates across the globe closed by the pandemic, the number of visas issued for newly enrolled international students fell 72 percent.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the United States?
Now that the U.S. has a new pro-immigration administration at the helm and the global pandemic is on the decline, we are seeing a change with energy and excitement about studying in America. Pace University saw 200 new students from abroad enroll for the Spring 2020 semester, even with travel restrictions still in place. It is predicted there will be close-to-normal Fall 2021 numbers.
